Dr Alonso obtained her PhD degree in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from the University Claude Bernard Lyon I (France). After her postdoc years at Pasteur Institute (France) and Cornell University (USA), she has established her laboratory at NUS in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Her expertise lies in host-pathogen interactions focusing on tuberculosis, dengue and Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD). She has established symptomatic mouse models that help validate in vitro findings and test the efficacy of prophylactic and therapeutic options.
