I received my Bachelor of Science from Villanova University, where my interest in Immunology was kindled. I then went on to complete my PhD at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and my work focused on characterizing novel bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC)-based humanized transgenic mouse models expressing human IL10 on a mouse Il10-deficient background. Through two humanized BAC mouse lines expressing different IL10 promoter haplotypes we were able to experimentally determine allele- and cell-type-specific effects of non-coding DNA within the human IL10 gene in the context of experimental colitis and colitis-associated colorectal cancer. I am joining the Department of Microbiology at Mahidol University in January 2020.
