    Dr. Patricia Macchiaverni is a biologist and holds a Ph.D. degree in Immunology at University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil in collaboration with University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France. In October 2017 she joined the team of Professor Valérie Verhasselt at the University of Western Australia as researcher fellow level B. Her research is focused in human cohort and animal models to assess whether early exposure to respiratory and food allergens transferred through breast milk would affect child’s allergy. Her growing recognition is evident as last year she was speaker selected from abstracts in 7 meetings (4 international and 3 national). The work under her supervision was also selected for oral presentation in 2 international scientific meeting. She’s member of international immunology societies including the FOCIS, ASI, EAACI and SBI. Recently she has been selected to be part of the ASI judging panel for grants. In 2018 she received a Scientific Merit award from the ASI for best immunology oral presentation and one travel grant from Centre for Food and Allergy Research (CFAR). She is Co-PI of the project “Gateway to allergy prevention: Promoting an immunomodulatory breastmilk” that received a grant of $ 247,597 from WA Child Research Fund grants in 2018. She has 11 publications including prestigious review as Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and Mucosal Immunology.
