Our research goal is to understand the molecular bases of T cell activation, differentiation and development and T cell-mediated autoimmune diseases. Currently, one of our project is focus on the role of sumo modification system in T cell biology. We discovered that PKCtheta and PLCgama1, the key molecules in T cell activation are modified by sumoylation upon TCR stimulation. Sumo modification is required for their proper immunological synapse localization and physiological function. Another project is studying the role of p38IP (p38-interacting protein) in T cell biology and rheumatoid arthritis.
